homosexual

Homosexuality refers to sexual behavior or attraction between people of the same sex or to the sexual orientation. As a sexual orientation ,homosexuality refers to "having sexual and romantic attraction primarily or exclusively to members of one’s own sex"; "it also refers to an individual’s sense of personal and social identity based on those attractions, behaviors expressing them, and membership in a community of others who share them. Homosexuality, bisexuality and heterosexuality together make up the three main classification of sexual orientation and are part of the heterosexual-homosexual continuum.the exact propotion of the population that  has had homosexual contact is difficult to estimate reliably ,but most recent studies place it at 2–13%.

Sexual orientation is also distinguished from other aspects of sexuality, "including biological sex (the anatomical, physiological, and genetic characteristics associated with being male or female) gender identity (the psychological sense of being male, female or other) and social gender role (adherence to cultural norms defining feminine and masculine behavior).

Etymologically, the word homosexual is a Greek and Latin hybrid with homos (sometimes confused with an unrelated Latin word for "man", as in Homo sapiens) deriving from the Greek word for same, thus connoting sexual acts and affections between members of the same sex, including lesbianism. The word gay generally refers to male homosexuality, but is sometimes used in a broader sense to refer to homosexuality in general. In the context of sexuality, the word lesbian denotes female homosexuality

There is much evidence of both acceptance and repression of homosexual behavior throughout recorded history. During the last several decades, there has been a trend towards increased visibility, recognition, and legal rights for homosexuals, including marriage and civil unions, parenting rights, and equal access to health care.

Introduction

Hai,to my dearest groupmate:
I have seach some information about issue homosexual. You all can go to this website: http://209.85.175.132/search?q=cache:0Ox0T3rA0VUJ:www.antipas.org/books/homo_revolution/hr_01.html+issue+homosexual&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=3&client=aff-ime for refence.
In this article, we found that Many Christians were awakened out of their moral slumber when in March, 1975, in Boulder, Colorado, two homosexuals were granted a marriage license. The two men, both 27, were denied a license in El Paso County, but found the "moral" and legal climate more acceptable in Boulder.
Both had been married in a religious ceremony October 28,1973 at the Faith Metropolitan Community Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Since that time, until the present, the homosexual issue has continued to occupy more and more print. One can hardly read a paper or a magazine without running headlong into the issue. [see Antipas News Section: World 2000, for more headline news articles on gay articles]
The Church is deeply involved. Government is involved. Schools are involved. Private and public organizations are involved. In short, each one of us is involved whether we realize it or not. Homosexuality, for all intents and purposes, is fast becoming America's number one social issue with anywhere from two to 20 million homosexuals involved. And, as is true with all social issues, it has great religious and political implications .
"the ordination of an avowed lesbian as a Deacon in the Churchis a sign of a healthy change" -- Right Rev. Paul Moore, Jr.
We can found that this issue is becoming an hot issue and we should concerning this issue.
Ok , that's all i post my opinion about this issue. Hope you all can give your opinion about this issue^^

my opinion about introduction

This is my opinion about our group introduction :
  • "Homosexuality" is a clinical term. Most male homosexuals generally prefer to be called "gay men" and most homosexual women generally prefer to be called "lesbians." Much of the prejudice against lesbians and gay men is based on stereotypes and lack of information. Due to our socialization and fear of the unknown, people who are different from the majority can be perceived as threatening. Homosexuality is one of the serious social problem then growing rapidly through the world. According The Kinsey Institute research, conducted in the 1940's and 1950's, suggests that approximately 10% of the population is lesbian or gay. Beside that, Though some researchers believe this estimate to be too high or too low, it is safe to assume that lesbians and gay men constitute a significant minority group. Consequently, even though we may not be aware of their sexual orientation, most of us know someone who is lesbian or gay. The vast majority of lesbians and gay men remain "in the closet" - that is, they reveal their sexual orientation to only a few trusted friends.

The Homosexuality is a very serious problem in America and other western country. so, i think can add some short story or example about homosexual at all world at our introduction, but cant find any article about it, how about my group member??

definition of homosexual

according to scientific research sex is a means to an end. The end being the propagation of the human race. This end can never be fulfilled by sex between males (in the case of gays) or between females (in the case of lesbians). Thus, the general conclusion is that homosexuality is irrational and illogical.
